Time to Smile

It has been too long since my last post. It isn’t intentional. I needed to prioritise with ‘doing what I have to do, so that I can do what I want to do’.
This morning as I was putting on my shoes to leave for work I noticed my creative space and it made me smile. It tells such a great story, more on that soon.

Time for mor of what I must do.

Hello Creative Space

Hello Smile

Hello Trust

Hello Courage.

Learning and Playing

I have been using Creative Bug to learn new techniques with art journaling. The images in this post, where I took part in a series called ’10 easy things to draw with Molly Hatch’. I had loads of fun taking part. Learning how to draw is something I have been wanting to work on since I started messing about with mixed media art. I started out with Creative Bug using a free trial and quickly became addicted.

I will post some more photos of the latest workshops I have been working on.

My Space

This is my space to create.

2015-09-07 18.04.11I would like to say this is where I write except it isn’t. When I write I laze in my chair with my laptop perched on my lap. If I could paint and glue in my comfy chair I would.

Confession time! I did try once, to glue and draw from my lap, needless to say my chair and clothes were messy. My journal looked great though.
Anyway, my challenge tonight was to put a poll into my post. I would love to hear from you.

My Happy

In my time of stress, mess or confusion I need something to distract me from dwelling on the situation.  Recently, when life was throwing a curveball,  I entered my creative space and immediately felt  a sense of dread as the need to create wasn’t there. Yet I still entered and sat at my workspace. Before I knew it I had paint on my hands and was fixing a broken part of my latest piece. Time slipped by, my sensitive soul had forgiven.

2015-07-29 07.29.45Before I drifted off to sleep for the night I read my book Simple Abundance: A Daybook of Comfort and Joy
I fortuitously read a chapter on happiness. Within the pages I learnt ‘External forces and things do not bring us happiness it is us that  create our own authentic happiness.’ I realised in that moment that although others can scar our soul it is me and only me who makes me truly, peacefully happy.

Hello me, Hello happiness, Hello soul!

My Place

P1020093So here it is, my favourite place. I enjoy painting, sewing and writing in this space. I feel very lucky to have such a lovely space to create in. The time I get to spend in here is a gift, I cherish every minute.

My desks are two old teachers desks, made from our New Zealand native wood, Kauri or Rimu. I bought them from P1020094a local school about 10 years ago.

The room’s decor is dated back to the late 1970’s. We have owned the house since 1/11/11 and we are slowly refurbishing the entire house and grounds. I will share some pictures of the transformation. We bought the house for one major reason, the amazing views of the beautiful lake and mountains that surround us. The size of the house  is a blessing when we have our families come to stay from afar.

Welcome friends, family, dogs, cats, joy and love.
